Superior Duct Hosts Heavy Metal Summer Experience!

Superior Duct Fabrication hosted it's first Heavy Metal Summer Experience in 2022. This program was created by HVAC industry members in the hopes of getting high school age kids interested in the trades. Sheet Metal, and other trades such as electrical and plumbing are seeing large percentages of their workforce retiring in the next few years. Now is a great time to get young people interested in the trades and that provide them with endless opportunities .

Our 2022 program was 4 weeks long, with 3 hour sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students who applied and were accepted into the program had an opportunity to learn hands on with expert instructors. They got to see a variety of sheet metal work, including welding and did several projects in our manufacturing shop. We organized trips to JATC to see the apprentice program and to one of our customer's, University Mechanical's, jobsites so the students could see the installation side of Sheet Metal work. The students had an opportunity to spend time with our Sales team and AutoCAD/EST team to see what the office environment offered as well.

This program gives students a leg up in a wonderful industry that provides education while working, excellent benefits, many avenues for upward mobility, and is an excellent alternative for those not college bound. Superior Duct looks forward to making this an annual event.

We are still accepting applications.

Please send all applications to vlongtin@sdfab.com.
